What counts as an item in Summoner’s Gambit

Billion Studio’s Summoner’s Gambit is a roguelike deckbuilder auto-battler, so “items” means the rewards that reshape your kit mid-run: creature cards you summon and fuse, runes that grant lasting bonuses, and potions that swing a single fight. This hub points to the three catalogs you will actually open while drafting after the August 6, 2026 Steam launch.

Start with Creature Cards for how sealed souls become board units, how exclusive class pools differ, and how fusion parents should be evaluated. Continue with Runes for permanent bonuses across 150+ options, then Potions for 35+ consumables. Ranking lenses live in the Tier List—especially Units, Runes Tier List, and Potions Tier List.

Creature cards

Every character card is a summonable combat unit. Positioning changes attack priority and skill range; numerical bonuses and synergies define whether a card is a spine piece or clutter. Nearly all creatures can fuse into hybrids that inherit traits from both parents, including cross-faction dual-race tools. Read the creature page before you treat the collection like a binder instead of a battler.

Runes

Runes are the long game. They unlock bonuses and synergies with your chosen class—Noble Serpent, Child of the Forest, Lord of Shadows, or King of the Wilds. A rune that widens your safe band under the blackjack-style 21 energy limit often outranks a shiny damage icon. Pair the items guide with class plans under Builds.

Potions

Potions are tempo and panic tools. Knowing when not to drink is part of mastery. Save bust saves for real walls; spend burst on fights you already set up with seating. Beginners should skim Beginner Builds and Energy Overflow before building a cocktail identity.

How items interact with core systems

Energy literacy decides whether a new card is affordable. Fusion literacy decides whether a reward is a parent or a dead unique. Seating literacy decides whether a potion can even reach the problem. Keep Card Fusion, Getting Started, and Async PvP in the loop when your itemization works in campaign but fails on the ladder.

Ascension climbs (Ascension) raise the value of lean itemization: fewer vanity cards, clearer rune jobs, stricter potion hoarding. Patch notes in Updates will move individual picks; Tools help you plan. Return to this Items Hub whenever a run feels “rich but weak”—that usually means your rewards do not share a spine.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What should I prioritize first: cards, runes, or potions?

Cards and seating first, then a rune that stabilizes energy, then potions as timed saves. Empty spines make fancy bottles irrelevant.

Is the Items Runes page the same as the Runes tier list?

No. Items Runes explains systems and pickup habits; the tier list ranks relative strength.

Do all creature cards fuse?

Nearly all acquired creature cards can fuse. Hybrids inherit traits from both parents—see Creature Cards and Card Fusion.

Where do class builds fit?

Builds teach how each exclusive pool uses these items. Open Builds Hub after you understand the three catalogs here.
