Creature Cards

Creature cards are your army

In Summoner’s Gambit you play an Apostle collecting souls sealed inside cards. Launch content highlights 200+ character cards, each a summonable combat unit, spread across four exclusive class pools and cross-faction fusion lines. This page explains how to evaluate creature rewards during a run—not as binder trophies, but as seats on an auto-battler board that must also obey a blackjack-style energy ceiling of 21.

New players should keep Getting Started and Beginner Builds nearby. Ranking by role lives on the Units Tier List. Sibling item pages: Runes, Potions. Hub: Items.

Exclusive pools and shared chaos

Each class—Noble Serpent, Child of the Forest, Lord of Shadows, King of the Wilds—brings skills and exclusive cards that push a distinct fantasy. Demo players already felt Serpent versus Shadows; the full August 6, 2026 release expands the roster. Exclusive does not mean isolated: fusion can cross the four ancient factions so hybrids inherit dual-race tools. Draft with both your class identity and a future hybrid in mind.

Summoning cost is board cost

Playing a creature is not free flavor text. Summons and skills push your energy total toward 21; overflow backlash can erase a beautiful formation. Before you take a flashy unit, ask what it costs to field beside your current spine. Energy enablers and lean curves rise for a reason—see Energy Overflow and the energy-safety discussion on the Runes Tier List.

Seating is part of the card evaluation

Attack priority and skill range depend on formation. A “strong” creature seated into first-strike death is a weak creature. Evaluate rewards with a row job: front contest, mid hybrid damage, back payoff. When a card has no honest seat beside what you already own, skip it. Practice habits from Getting Started beat collecting every unique art.

Fusion parents versus finished pieces

Nearly all acquired creature cards can fuse. The result inherits traits from both components and becomes a more formidable entity—continuously fuse and upgrade toward an ultimate spine. Mid-run, label cards as parents (kept for a hybrid) or finishers (already doing a job). Parents without a scheduled fusion date become draw sludge. Full timing rules live in Card Fusion.

Good parent questions:

  1. Which trait do I want to keep?
  2. Which second trait am I hunting?
  3. Can the hybrid still be seated affordably under 21?
  4. Does this hybrid help Ascension length or only a short fight?

Draft priorities by phase

Early — Survival seats and one clear direction. Avoid five unrelated uniques. Mid — Fuse the win-condition hybrid; cut redundancy. Late / Ascension — Lean the bag; every summon must earn its energy (Ascension). Async snapshots — Prefer cards that still function when opponents seat burst and disruption (Async PvP).

Synergies, skills, and the 500+ skill space

Launch messaging cites 500+ skills across combinations. You will not memorize them on day one. Pattern-recognize: on-summon effects, aura ranges, kill conversion, growth stacks, disruption triggers. Pick cards whose text shares a verb with your rune package and potion plan. Class tier context: Classes Tier List.

Common creature-card mistakes

Hoarding every drop, ignoring fusion until the deck is sludge, seating payoffs in death cones, and treating overflow as a personality. Another mistake is copying a streamer’s exclusive pool without owning the energy habits that make those cards cheap to play.

When rewards feel confusing, return to the Items Hub, shop roles via Units Tier List, and support the spine with Items Runes and Items Potions. Patch tracking: Updates. Helpers: Tools. Builds index: Builds.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How many creature cards are in Summoner's Gambit?

Launch materials advertise 200+ character cards. Exact counts can change with updates—evaluate by seat, energy, and fusion future.

Can I fuse across factions?

Yes. Official messaging highlights cross-breeding across four ancient factions so hybrids can carry dual-race abilities.

Why is there a video on this page?

The embed shows real combat and card flow so seating and summoning are easier to picture while you read.

Should I prioritize exclusive class cards over off-pool finds?

Bias toward cards that advance your class spine or a scheduled hybrid. Off-pool glitter that breaks energy math is a trap.

Where do I rank individual unit roles?
